• How to Report Issues in Richmond

    City of Richmond

    Please see Reporting an Issue for different ways to send reports and comments to the city. We recommend getting the mobile app linked there, which makes it easy to post photos and provide a location. We also recommend emailing the appropriate city council member(s). You can find their emails on the right side of the City Council page, or on the Biographies and Terms page.     Richmond Police Department

    For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergency reports, such as illegal fireworks or sideshows, call (510) 233-1214. You can also file an online police report for your own records; these reports will not be investigated.

    Caltrans - Highway 80, 580, on ramps, and off ramps

    Caltrans maintains the highways in Richmond, as well as the areas around the on & off ramps. They have an online Customer Service Request form. You can report things like trash & debris, encamptments, hazards, and more.

    AC Transit Bus Stops and Service

    You can send comments or report issues at bus stops or with bus service using the AC transit online comment form. You can also call them at 510-891-4777.

    Richmond BART

    For general comments and feedback, such as maintenance or cleaning requests, you can use the BART comment form. To report a crime or suspicious activity on BART, call 911 or BART Police dispatch at (510) 464-7000, or text BART Police at 510-200-0992. You can also use the free BART Watch app. They also have a specific Biohazard report form.

    Chevron Richmond Refinery

    To report unusual noise or odor from the refinery, call (510) 242-2127. Also see the Richmond refinery contact us page.

    Bay Area Air Quality

    There are a few different ways to report air quality issues or pollution, depending on the problem. Go to Report an Air Pollution Complaint to determine the best option.

    Mental Health Emergencies

    To report a mental health crisis, you can call the Contra Costa Health Crisis Response team at 844-844-5544.

    Homeless Services

    You can call 211 or text HOPE to 20121 to get help from Contra Costa County Homeless Services.

    Contra Costa Animal Services

    To Report Animal Activity or Incidents, call their 24 hour emergency line: 925-646-2441

    Contra Costa County Sheriff

    For the Marine Patrol, call (925) 427-8507. You can find numbers for other Contra Costa Sheriff Departments here. You can also file an Online Police Report for unicorporated Contra Costa County.

    Abandoned Boats

    Call the US Coast Guard at (415) 399-3530 to report abandonded or sinking vessels.

    Deceased Animals

    Contact Contra Costa Animal Services to report a deceased animal. For deceased marine mammals on the coast, or mammals that are stranded, you can contact NOAA Fishers Marine Mammal Protection at 1-866-767-6114.
